What is an AFX? It is an atypical Fibroxanthoma. These occur mainly in the elderly on the head and neck due to sun exposure. When they occur in younger people they tend to be slower growing, larger and arise on trunk and extremities and are not caused by sun exposure. The tumour cells do not stain for cytokeratins. AFX is usually cured by complete excision.
